USI website critique

First of all the navigation of the USI site seems to work fairly well. at first it is easy to see the blue drop down menus. then you see links right below that on the left-hand side. As you go down farther you see even more links to click. I know that USI has a lot of information to give but, I personally think that in my opinion it needs to be a bit more simple on the main page. As I navigate to the first tier landing pages, I notice they have pretty much the same thing going on, which really doesn't work too bad. All in all I think that they information is pretty crammed together, and on viewing another similar site, http://www.indiana.edu/ I see that it can be done a little bit simpler.
On the topic of images on the site, I actually tend to like most of the images shown on the main page and the first tier landing pages. They show images of real people around the campus, and they are nicely taken, and show some of the great scenery around campus. I was really kind of sad when they didn't show any images of the cone though..
I think that the site needs less information, because honestly I've never looked at 1/10th of the stuff on there, or maybe not less info, but just better organization, so you don't feel like you are being bombarded with information when you view a page. So the site needs more organization and less visual information all at once.

Lawn Art Web Site Critiques

The site looks really great. The photos work well and are well placed. I like the navigation as well, along with the mouseover effect. The information about the various lawn ornaments was a nice touch. the only complaint I can really find is the Lawn Art text on the main page. I don't feel like it goes with the style of the rest of the site, but other than that great job.

I like the photos, and the theme they present. I think that the template layout of the photos throughout each page works well too. Some things that you could fix are some of the text related issues. On your descriptions on some pages they seem like they need to be aligned better. And I noticed on your fine feathered friends page that the fine feathered friends link bumps into your childhood memories link, that could be an easy fix that would make it look better, great job though.

I really like the theme of the website. It takes simple lawn art and really gives a much deeper feel to it. Someone normally wouldn't look at a lawn and see these things and think such deep thoughts, but it works well in your design. The navigation seems to work well, as well as the overall layout and design. I like how it has a really dark feel to it with the bright white letters bold and giving a sort of inspiration and knowledge. It works well good job.

Lawn Art Assignment

For the Lawn Art web pages I started with an idea I had in a sketch to have illustrated type. I starting thinking of some things you would see on a lawn, and tried to figure out how i could shape them like the letters L A W N. This illustrations was the hardest part of my design. I used the L shape in a lawn chair for my L. The upside down V shape in a plastic pink flamingo's legs for the A shape. Two pointy hat lawn gnomes and a one of those lawn orbs on a ascending column platform for my W. and lastly the rounded shape of a christmas light deer's legs for the large lower case n. All in all i think the illustration adds to the quirkiness of some of the things you see on people's lawns, as well as showed some of the different themes I present on the website.

@aonan.willyworld.org This is a pretty cool design. Your background photos give some great texture, and you use space really well. Overall I think the design turned out well.
@taz.willyworld.org Love this design, the cartoon theme is the style I tend to use a lot myself. I have to admit you do it better than I do though. Though this design doesn't really make me think of art club when I see it, it is creative. All in all it looks really cool.
@epayne.willyworld.org I really like the design. The graffiti theme is pretty cool with the brick wall in the background. One thing I would note is the transparency used in some of the colors doesnt really look right because colors wouldn't look like that. Other than that there doesnt seem like much else wrong with it.

USI Art Club web page

In my design for the USI art club web page, I went with more simplistic approach. In my design I used Illustrator to create my own graphics. I created a ear of corn with "USI Art Club" on in. I tried to make it look like someone had painted it on there. I also used a travel bus as a visual element. Lastly I made a text box for the information.
